South Korea’s chief nuclear envoy Noh Kyu-duk has vowed to find ways to provide humanitarian aid to North Korea during his four-day stay in the U.S.
Noh arrived in Washington Sunday, telling reporters that he hopes progress can be made to restart the Korean peace process.
However, he noted that inter-Korean cooperation is only possible with Pyeongyang’s consent.
Noh also said Washington is prioritizing talks with North Korea as well, citing his U.S. counterpart Sung Kim’s recent visit to Seoul.
The South Korean envoy will be meeting officials from the State Department and White House National Security Council through September 1st.
