Another one of the South Korean victims of Japan’s wartime sexual slavery has died.
According to the The Korean Council for Justice and Remembrance, Lee Mak-dal passed away on Saturday in Busan at the age of 97.
With her death, there are now just 16 surviving victims registered with the government.
Lee Mak-dal was forced to serve as so-called ‘comfort woman’ at Japanese military brothel in Taiwan at the age of 17.
In 2005, she registered with the government as a victim of wartime sex slavery.
Her funeral will be held privately, in accordance with the wishes of Lee Mak-dal and her family.
