Meanwhile, the southwestern city of Gwangju, has toughened social distancing measures for the city after it saw 54 new Covid-19 cases in the last two days.

“While we remain under level two social distancing measures, the Gwangju COVID-19 Joint Countermeasure Committee is enacting stricter measures corresponding to Level 3.”

Under the new guidelines, religious services can be only be carried out online; high-risk venues such as saunas, gyms and internet cafes must close down and group sports indoors and outdoors are not allowed.
The tougher rules which took effect at noon today will be in effect until September 10th, and those who violate could be fined and/or face prosecution.
